TCP/IP Concepts (Cont.) Distributed control - the network contains a set of "core" routers that have a notion of the entire network topology, and a set of smaller networks that branch off of them. If some core routers fail, others will coordinate bypassing those routers, allowing the rest of the network to function properly.
