Debugging The LAN

LAN problems occur normally due to driver problems (i.e. our network adapter is missconfigured) or incompatible netmasks.

When we have a LAN problem, we should first check the interface definitions on the two machines that won't cooperate. Making sure they both use the same netmask, and that both addresses belong on the same subnet is a good first step.
